PTE Academic is endorsed by the Graduate Management Admission Council. It is a computer-based exam which focuses on real-life English used in academic surroundings. This is to say that integrated language is used throughout the test and students will listen to a variety of accents and academic language which they will encounter at English-speaking higher education institutions.

The exam will include an unmarked voice recording of the candidate, which is part of advanced biometric data that should assist institutions in verifying the identity of candidates and should aid them with their admission decisions. The test will be a maximum of 3 hours long and takers can expect their results to be delivered to them, online, within 5 working days.

Test scores are reported on the Global Scale of English, a standardized, numeric scale from 10 to 90 which can measure English language proficiency more precisely with reference to the widely known set of levels distinguished in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or CEFR.

ABOUT PTE TEST

PTE Academic assesses listening, reading, speaking and writing all via computer in a single 3 hour test session.

To complete a PTE Academic test, you will need to attend a secure Pearson test centre. You will use a computer and headset to listen to, read and respond to questions.

During the three-hour test session there will be three main parts to the test: speaking and writing (together), listening and reading. There are twenty different question formats, ranging from multiple choices through to essay writing and interpreting information.

PTE Academic assesses real-life, academic content, so you will hear excerpts from lectures and view graphs and charts. You will hear a range of accents in the test, from British and American to non-native speakers, so you will be exposed to the type of accents you will encounter in everyday life.

2. How is the PTE Academic test different from others?

PTE Academic Test is quite authentic in terms of test content and tasks where you demonstrate your ability to make efficient use of real-life English language skills. In addition the results for the PTE exam is published in 2-3 working days.

3. How can I register for the PTE Academic test?

You can register for the PTE Academic test online. If you are taking the test for the first time then you need to create a web account for scheduling the test. 4. Where is the PTE Academic test conducted?

The PTE Academic Test scores can be sent across universities by accessing your web account. You may send your scores to as many institutions as you wish and that too free. The universities will get your scores within 48 hours of reporting.

7. What is the validity of the PTE Academic test scores?

PTE Academic Test scores are valid for two years.

8. What is the minimum score required to clear the PTE Academic test?

The candidates must keep a check on the score required by the university they have applied for. Most UK universities require a minimum score of 51 for undergraduate and post graduate courses and a minimum score of 36 required for qualifications below degree level.

9. Can I reappear for the test? If yes, then how many times?

Yes, you can reappear for the test as many times as you want. The test can be scheduled 5 days after your last test date.
